Ah Kei Bak Kut Teh was founded by Chef Kei in the year of 2019, specialises on the authenticity and simplicity of Malaysian Bak Kut Teh 肉骨茶, a traditional dish made of pork ribs and meat slowly stewed in a complex broth of Chinese herbs, spices, and soy for several hours. It literally translates from Hokkien as ‘meat-bone- tea’ and is said to have many medicinal and healing properties in its original form.

Balance of flavour is an art form in the making of Bak-Kut-Teh. Our chef and owner Kei has been trained and inspired by some of the best Bak-Kut-Teh Masters in Malaysia, and is channelling his family heritage by bringing these unique flavours to Edinburgh.

Our previous Bak Kut Teh one-dish-store (located at the West crosscauseway, Edinburgh) is now closed. But due to Ah Kei Bak Kut Teh lovers request, we are now serving Ah Kei Bak Kut Teh every Saturday and Sunday at Macau Kitchen. You can now order your favorite Bak Kut Teh online for take out or pre-order your Bak Kut Teh for dine in at Macau Kitchen. Only limited portions available. Act fast!
